18 2 0 1 4 A N N U A L R E P O R T KEY ISSUE: Managing Costs for Cadillac Health Benefits ILWU workers have one of the finest health care plans in the nation, with virtually unlimited services at potentially zero cost. In fact, the ILWU-PMA health care plan was recently named one of the "Top 1 percent" most expensive union plans in the nation, according to the University of Chicago's NORC research center. In order to control costs and reduce exposure to the looming Cadillac tax on the nation's most expensive health plans, PMA has worked hard to bring greater efficiencies to the plan.
