Southern California The San Pedro Bay Port Complex advanced a significant terminal expansion project in 2025, as PMA member companies continued to prioritize future growth despite short-term fluctuations in cargo volume. The introduction of new methanol-powered vessels and the expansion of shore-power infrastructure furthered the region's commitment to environmental sustainability. Also, the Port of Long Beach appointed a new CEO, marking an important leadership transition. R E G I O N A L R E P O R T ITS Breaks Ground on Long Beach Terminal Expansion In July, PMA member company International Transportation Service (ITS) broke ground on a major terminal expansion project at the Port of Long Beach, an initiative expected to increase cargo-handling capacity by 50% and generate significant employment opportunities for longshore and other positions throughout the supply chain. The project represents a $365 million investment that will add 19 acres of dock space by reclaiming land from the harbor and extending the existing quay by 560 feet to create a single, continuous wharf measuring 3,400 feet and capable of berthing two 18,000-TEU vessels simultaneously. ITS is utilizing American-sourced construction materials and local labor for the expansion, which is expected to be completed in 2028. 16 2025 ANNUAL REPORT New Methanol/ Ammonia-Powered Ship Makes First Voyage to Los Angeles The ONE Singapore arrived at Yusen Terminals (YTI) at the Port of Los Angeles on August 14, completing its maiden voyage from Singapore via Xiamen, China, and marking the largest ship to call at YTI. This 13,900-TEU vessel is the sixth in a planned series of 20 YTI team members celebrate the maiden voyage of the ONE Singapore at the Port of Los Angeles.
