28 2024 ANNUAL REPORT
Northern California
Cargo volume at the Bay Area's largest port rose, helping to offset several years
of declines in the region. New hybrid electric cranes, a revised terminal lease,
and a PMA-ILWU supplemental area agreement furthered the region's goals to
improve port sustainability, capacity, and productivity.

Port of Oakland Lifts Bay Area Volume
Total cargo volume at the Port of Oakland increased by 10.5% in 2024, led by a rise in
containerized cargo traffic. Last year's performance reversed four years of cargo volume
declines in the Bay Area as the port seeks to return to its pre-pandemic levels of activity.
